Parent Programmes
The introductory training for the BASIC parent programme is three days.
The BASIC Parenting Programme is designed to promote positive strategies and to assist parents in managing children's behaviour problems. This programme includes: play, helping children learn, positive reinforcement, limit setting, non-physical discipline alternatives, problem solving, effective communication skills and supporting children's education. Group therapy process issues such as empowering parents, collaborating, dealing with resistance, confronting and teaching, supporting and advocating for parents will be discussed. This intervention programme is used by professionals (therapists and parent educators from psychology, social work, education, nursing and psychiatry) who are working with families of young children with conduct problems (ages 2-12 years), or with single parents, abusive parents, and teenage parents. The workshop teaches how to use this programme as a prevention programme in elementary schools and pre-schools. Attending this workshop is the first step in becoming a certified group leader.

Training for this programme generally takes place in Bangor once a month. Cost: £400 (excluding VAT).

The training for the ADVANCE parent programme is one day.
The Incredible Years ADVANCE Parenting Programme is a follow-on to the BASIC Parenting Programme for parents of children who have clinical levels of conduct problems, are experiencing relationship difficulties with other adults and/or are in multiply stressed circumstances.
The ADVANCE programme covers communication and interpersonal skills, including problem solving with adults and children, anger management and how to give and get support.
This one-day course will introduce participants to the content of the eight session ADVANCE Parenting Programme. This course is for people who have completed the BASIC group leader training and have experience of co-leading at least one BASIC Parenting Course.

Training for this programme generally takes place in Bangor once a term. Cost: £150 (excluding VAT).

Infant and Toddler Group Leader training
This is a two one-day trainings, and participants MUST have undertaken the BASIC parent leader training, prior to attending.
The recently published Infant and Toddler programmes are based on the same principles as the BASIC Parent Programme for parents of younger children. They comprise of two sets of vignettes, eight sessions that focus on the child's first year of life and twelve sessions that cover parenting toddlers aged one and two years.
These training days are for people who have undertaken BASIC leader training and ideally have delivered the BASIC parent programme. The one day training days are offered as a participative supplements to the BASIC leader training and will be helpful for leaders who are working towards leader certification. The courses introduce participants to some of the material from the two programmes. During the training participants will have an opportunity to present parts of the programme and to obtain feedback and support in terms of their development of leader skills.

Cost of each one-day training day is £150 (excluding VAT).

Supervision Days for leaders delivering parent programmes
All supervision days are open to anyone who has had the BASIC training in the Incredible Years programmes with the Incredible Years Wales Centre, and are delivering or planning to deliver the programme. Supervision days help to prepare for leader certification, and participants are encouraged to bring a video-tape from a group session. These days are an opportunity for programme leaders to support one another and receive feedback to encourage their accreditation as programme leaders.

They take place in Bangor once a term. Cost: £25 (excluding VAT).

Child Programmes
Therapeutic Small Group Dinosaur School Leader training
This is a three day training, and it is recommended that participants have undertaken the BASIC parent leader training, prior to undertaking this training

This three day course provides basic training in delivering the child training therapeutic "Dinosaur School" Programme. This programme employs strategies to promote children?s non-aggressive ways to solve common conflicts, appropriate classroom behaviours, and positive social skills with other children and adults. The workshop will cover how to teach children to understand feelings, problem-solve, control of anger, learn how to teach children to be friendly, how to talk with friends, and how to do their best at school. The intervention programme is appropriate for use by clinicians with small groups of children with behaviour problems (from pre-school to eight years old). Attending this workshop is the first step in becoming a certified group leader. Ideally, participants will have already attended the BASIC parent group leader programme or the Teacher Classroom Management programme and will be familiar with the principles underpinning the parenting programme.

Classroom Dinosaur School Programme
This is a three-day course for teachers. It provides training in the universal classroom based Incredible Years Child Dinosaur School Programme and the underpinning classroom management principles. The Dinosaur School programme employs strategies to help children learn non-aggressive ways to solve common conflicts, appropriate classroom behaviours and positive social skills with other children and adults. The skills are taught through the use of puppets, video examples and practice. The programme also includes small group activities for the classroom and home assignments. The programme has been shown to improve children's social and emotional competence, and to enhance their abilities to do well in school and make and keep friends.

This training takes place once a term. Cost: £400 (excluding VAT).

Teacher Programme
Teacher Classroom Management Leader Training
This is a three-day course to train people to deliver the six-day teacher programme. Leader training for the three day Incredible Years Teacher Classroom Management Group Programme was offered for the first time at Bangor in 2005, following the successful training of many local teachers, and the adoption of the teacher and linked "Dinosaur School" programmes by Gwynedd Education Department as part of their Primary School strategy. The programmes have received enthusiastic support from those teachers that have attended.
Teachers spend increasing amounts of their time managing children who display aggressive and non-compliant behaviours who disrupt both their own and other children's academic progress. The course trains programme leaders to deliver the six day Incredible Years (IY) Teacher Training Programme developed by Professor Webster-Stratton. The teacher programme focuses on evidence-based practices and strategies that have been shown to reduce problem behaviour in the classroom and strengthen children's social, emotional and academic competencies. It is delivered over six days, ideally one month apart. Between sessions, teachers undertake classroom assignments and receive both verbal and written feedback on their efforts.

The three-day training course prepares leaders to deliver the teacher programme. It introduces the content of the six-day programme and the collaborative teaching style which builds on teachers existing expertise. The training is open to education specialists with responsibility for/experience in training and supporting teachers of primary aged children or others with extensive experience in delivering the IY programmes. Course participants should ideally be familiar with the teacher programme prior to the course, should be either an education specialist, a qualified primary school teacher with experience of the programme, or a certified parent programme leader.

The teacher programme is linked to the IY parent and child programmes all of which promote positive and effective strategies to improve children's social competencies at school and at home. These programmes have been extensively researched and have been identified as 'blueprint' programmes, meeting the highest research criteria for violence prevention and the promotion of social and academic skills in young children.

This training takes place once a term. Cost: £400 (excluding VAT).
